One Less Chemical

Nancy is spending the next few weeks working on new designs for Mod Green Pod, so I thought I'd do some blogging for her.

Yesterday, The EPA announced a no-tolerance policy for residues of the pesticide Carbofuran on food crops. Carbofuran, marketed as Furadan, has long been known as one of the most insidious agricultural chemicals, infamous for its toxic effects on birds, other wildlife, and -- no surprise here -- humans (children in particular). Yum!

Getting rid of residue is great, but what about the rest of the growing cycle? Good question. There is a lot more work to be done to clean up our food supply -- and the crops that comprise our conventional textiles. The more I continue to learn about the toxic alphabet soup of herbicides and pesticides, the stronger I feel about Mod Green Pod's commitment to certified organic cotton and our mission to bring happiness to your home through the power of design and healthy products.

Mod Green Pod, keep up the great work! You're fabrics are wonderful. There is a great vintage sofa and chair on eBay and I think you're fabric would be the perfect thing to spruce them up.
