One Less Chemical

Nancy is spending the next few weeks working on new designs for Mod Green Pod, so I thought I'd do some blogging for her.

Yesterday, The EPA announced a no-tolerance policy for residues of the pesticide Carbofuran on food crops. Carbofuran, marketed as Furadan, has long been known as one of the most insidious agricultural chemicals, infamous for its toxic effects on birds, other wildlife, and -- no surprise here -- humans (children in particular). Yum!

Getting rid of residue is great, but what about the rest of the growing cycle? Good question. There is a lot more work to be done to clean up our food supply -- and the crops that comprise our conventional textiles. The more I continue to learn about the toxic alphabet soup of herbicides and pesticides, the stronger I feel about Mod Green Pod's commitment to certified organic cotton and our mission to bring happiness to your home through the power of design and healthy products.

Tina H's chair

Tina H. of Austin recently had her grandmother's chair reupholstered in Grand Jubilee chocolate, to match the original warm wood Arts & Crafts trim that runs throughout her house.  I will show more of her house in the coming weeks when I reveal the very spectacular before-&-after transformation that is currently happening in her dining room.

Thanks, Tina!

MGP DIY: Storage bins from Urban Nest

So how adorable are these?!

REALLY adorable, right?!  Well, you can make your own!  Our very clever friends at Urban Nest crafted these using our Bloom organic cotton and upcycled cereal boxes.  Thankfully they were generous enough to document the process and give us all easy instructions in a downloadable pdf at their website, so go forth and make your own!
